Taliban attempted to assassinate Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai was shot by a masked gunman on her way home from school. Maulana Fazlullah and the Pakistani Taliban took responsibility for trying to assassinate her. They were imposing strict Islamic law of limiting women activity in society. The Taliban stopped a school bus and asked for her by name and fired four rounds into a group of girls. Malala was shot in the head and neck. She was struck just above the back of her left eye. The bullet went through her neck and lodged in the tissue above her shoulder blade on the left.
She was also unable to talk and could breath through a hole in her neck. |
Her two best friends also got shot. With her serious injuries, Malala was treated first in Pakistan, and later she was moved to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, England.
